Thought for the week from Tim
As I look at my Facebook feed today, Friday 13th, I see a lot of people getting hung up about the date. When I was an AA patrolman and went out to a breakdown on a Friday 13th the owner of the broken down car would often say something like this “typical, I should have expected it, it is Friday 13th” – to which I would always reply that the AA had no more breakdowns on a Friday 13th than any other day, that they did not get lots of extra patrols out on a Friday 13th ready for all the bad things to happen.
A lot of planes do not have a row of seats numbered 13 because of superstition, and people refusing to use that seat. The silly thing is that the row numbered 14 is actually the 13th row anyway. So how silly is that.
As Christians it is in God we trust, not in superstition. We believe in the fact of Jesus risen from the dead, having died for each one of us out of love for us. Psalm 28:7 says “The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him” so let’s keep our trust in Him
