Thought for the week from Tim

James 4: 13-16
13  Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.” 14 How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. 15 What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live there and do this or that.” 16 Otherwise you are boasting about your own pretentious plans, and all such boasting is evil.

I think this verse is one that a lot of us have learnt over the last 12 months.  A year ago myself and Sarah had holidays planned and Christian conferences booked. We knew what we would be doing, for once in our lives. And then Covid hit and our plans have been put on hold.

It is easy to get frustrated when all our plans have been put on hold or even cancelled.

We need to trust God. To let Him guide us. To give our future to Him

One of the other things that I have found in recent years is that some Christians are always after the next prophetic word for their lives, wanting to be able to plan ahead and prepare, then they get disappointed when they don’t receive a word from God.  Don’t get me wrong, I love the fact that we are seeing more of the prophetic these days, it is great, b
ut I believe the word from God is often “Trust me”. We need to be grown up about the future and just trust God, because God is faithful, He is reliable.   We are trusting Him for our eternal life, and sometimes we are not even trusting Him for our tomorrow.   Let us let go and let Him guide us day by day.   If you get a prophetic word from God, fantastic, and if you don’t it is probably God just teaching you to trust Him more – and that is a good thing too.
