Instead of, or as well as, giving up something for Lent, why not be more positive and join in “40 Acts of Kindness”.
Some of us at St John’s did this last year and it just makes you more aware of people around you and how you can bless them in small ways, eg give them a bunch of flowers for no particular reason, make that phone call to someone who could do with hearing from you etc.
Everyone can “do Lent generously”. Most acts only take about 5 minutes a day. Go to the 40 Acts for Lent website and sign up to receive a daily email to your PC or mobile phone.
