Launch of Church Spire and Roof Repair Fund
Most of us now know that we have major problems with the church spire. The spire has been declared unsafe during recent surveys. The repairs will cost an estimated £167,000. To address this problem a project group has been set up and has been looking at ways of obtaining funding from outside sources.
We realise, however, that this is our Church and we need to be active in contributing to this project – many fund providers are asking that we have 50% of the total amount in place before they will consider allocating grants.
Sunday 5th September 2021 was our launch date when we publicised the problems, providing lots more information about how people can get involved to support the project, and asking the congregation to pledge a regular amount (in addition to their normal giving) to the repair fund, so that this iconic spire will remain a focal point in Worksop for many years to come.
We are aware that St John’s, through our ministry over 150 years to our local community, has touched many lives, through baptism, marriage, funeral services and those who have joined us for worship over the years. We want to use this building to continue to serve constructively our local parish community in the future.
We would welcome any donations to support this project. There are identified gift envelopes available in church for cash donations. Pledge forms are also available at the back of church. Pledging money over the next two years will allow people to give on a regular basis and will help us to know the amount of money we are likely to receive, as most of the grant providers are asking what pledge commitments we have.
Donations can also be made to Worksop St Johns PCC; sort code 40-47-21 – a/c no. 70724556 – ref: Spire and Roof (S&R)
Gift Aid can be claimed on this giving (if you are a UK taxpayer, adding 25p per £1.00 donated.
